I've got a RT-AC88U set up for Dual WAN. WAN1 is 1Gbps Uverse and WAN2 is 35Mbps Comcast. Originally I was thinking failover would be the best option so that we use the higher speed connection most of the time and then if it goes down, we have the slower connection. The failover in the router isn't exactly flawless. I was wondering what would happen if I put it in Load Balance mode. What ratios do I set since the Uverse is so much faster than the Comcast? What happens if one or the other service goes down? Will it default to pushing all the traffic through the working service or will it just give errors?
I've previously been using a Linksys LRT224 as my primary router set up in failover mode. It was working well until the router died.
Also, I've been looking at Merlin. It looks like Merlin still isn't touching dual WAN. Is that right?
Is there a place to get beta firmware for the router? Is there a way to sign up as a beta tester for Asus?
Thanks for your input.
