Long distance connection advice

New Around Here
I have a vacation home and a neighbor who I piggyback wireless from. I have had a pretty reliable connection, albeit slow, using a WRT-54G v5 connected as a client. That unit is wired to a Netgear N300 that distributed the wireless to my devices. The WRT had one antenna connected to a yagi and the other with a 9db whip. I was using it solo as a repeater but it wasn't reliable that way. The Host is a Netgear wgt624 (I think).
The distance is maybe 300 yards.

The WRT died so I am looking to rebuilt the connection to her. If I can find a couple of routers at the right price on ebay I will replace her router also as I don't think her's is very strong.
I am looking for any suggestions for this task.
Thanks
bill
