Looking for info on Coaxial cabling.

Also the internet drops off when the Speedtest does an upload test and it stalls than disconnects from the net.

What exactly disconnects? The modem from the ISP, the connection between the router and the modem, the connection to the client you test with, perhaps the browser only hangs up? If it's the modem - it usually needs few minutes to re-connect. Do you have to wait for so long and is the event recorded in logs? If it's something after the modem (it recovers faster than usual re-connection time) - what the router logs say for the WAN and LAN ports used? You test with a wired client and not over Wi-Fi, correct? Do you test with all the same client and all the same browser? What about your computer directly connected to the modem? The same thing happening again? This is the type of initial troubleshooting I would have done already.

I've done that as well, I use wired connection (iMac since it has the fastest ethernet capabilities) and I've done it direct to modem and I was still seeing drops so I can rule out the router. In terms of what disconnects the whole network, in it can't find the internet so all my devices go offline until the connection to the net is re-established . When this happens the modem light remains blue, indicating Docsis 3.1 connection, but no internet. Again this only happens when the upstream messes up, not when the downstream messes up.

Drops you can expect. The speed is not guaranteed and different test servers won't give you the same numbers all the time. The "entire network" drops means you have a router after the modem in this test and wireless devices are included. What the router logs say when it happens? Is it the WAN port, or perhaps your Wi-Fi drops for whatever reason? I'm trying to help you and asking the same questions 3 times already with no definitive answer. 🤷‍♂️

OK, the fastest ethernet is referring to download, since i bought the 2.5 ethernet dongle I can get the fastest speeds possible. the upload speeds were 115. I actually just called cox to downgrade my plan to 500 down and 50 up. I want to see if running at a slower speed will stabilize this. Also, if this works for me, I can also save $30 a month.

To answer your other questions, when I refer to drops, I'm referring to speeds lower than average peek time drops, for example on average on a gigabit connection without a 2.5 g port i'll get between 929 and 940 down. When it goes into the 800's or lower, that's not normal for me on repeated tests, or long term, without going back up on it's own. I do realize speedtest servers do differ, but i'm also using the speedtest app, not the browser, and it picks the best server by location services, and usually it's pretty good.

You are making things only worse with Ethernet-to-USB dongles in the equation. Another point of failure.

My own residential up to Gigabit line may drop to 400Mbps in high traffic hours. The more speed tests you do the worse it gets to everyone using the line. It's a wasted bandwidth. Are you willing to pay for guaranteed business line at home? Pretty sure Cox will take your money.

I was considering going business actually. With the price I was paying $170 for 1G+unlimited data, or $200 for 2G+ unlimited data I was told by a few people from Cox that business wouldn't cost much more than that. I wanted to clarify the router reboot state,ent from the other thread. That was specific to switching from the panoramic gateway to the Arris modem without rebooting the router. Before I rebooted, the speeds were slow, and after I rebooted the router they were back to normal. So that was a different speed related issue than this. That was the modem router link.
 
I don't know what your issue is and have no more suggestions. This thread is moving towards common speed test troubleshooting. New place, new ISP, undisclosed issues with the ISP equipment in previous thread, new modem, new cable from Amazon, new router, Ethernet dongles, Cox called 5 times, previous modem/router connection issues... just can't help you further. So many points of failure in this picture. Back to post #32, my best advice.

It's OK, I think this has to be solved in person. I do appreciate the help though. I think part of the issue here is knowing what I want, but not really knowing the best way to get it, or having limited options. For the time being, I'll just work on the situation here, and then post when I get it resolved, to make it easier on everyone.

There is no set date yet. Here is what happened with that, Jim came out we talked and he tested the line, he got permission from the management to do the line. He left leaving it up to me to decide to have it done. I've kept in touch with hime as he gave me his number so I wouldn't have to go through the call center. He said he'd send an email to do a work order for a pre-burry for the new line and then he said I'll get a call when it's going to be done. I told him to go-ahead and have it done. So we'll go from there, he said he would take care of it today. So, I'll post back when I know more.
