Hi everyone,
I just upgraded myself with a Linksys WRT1900ACSv2, after long time suffering a slow wifi speeds of my aging Fritzbox 7390.
I turned it to bridge mode and instead use the linksys.
I upgraded it to latest version (2.0.7.167471) and setup both my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels to the same SSID, WPA2 Personal only, 2.4Ghz is in mixed mode, but 5Ghz channel 802.11ac only
I then turned off Media prioritization, to make sure there is nothing limiting the speeds of my network, and attached to its LAN ports my Qnap 453Pro nas.
Then, obviously I started running some tests and see if my wifi is that much faster now.
I used my Lenovo laptop, that is equipped with 866AC card, for the tests. While over LAN I am able to copy files off my NAS for 70-80MB/s, when I stand pretty close to the router, having a stable 866Mbps connection, I copy over 20-21MB/s
Why so slow? Most of the benchmarks shows speeds at least double of that.
