I mistakenly posted this on the AC board, so I am posting here since this is for an XT8.
I am wanting to upgrade my unmanaged 8 port switch to a managed switch. From what I can tell, it seems that the issue with using a managed switch in the backhaul link causes issues due to loop detection, but I was hoping there would be some clarity out there.
If I "switch" out my unamanged switch to a managed switch, should backhaul work if I turn off loop detection for the ports being used for the backhaul? Alternatively, would I have the same advantage if I simply kept the unmanaged switch just for the backhaul, but plugged in a managed switch for all of my other devices? Something like
