MediaTek just introduced the MT7622, a 4x4 802.11n and Bluetooth 5.0 SoC with built-in dedicated Wi-Fi network accelerator. The device is targeted at routers and repeaters, whole home Wi-Fi and home automation gateways. It is designed to pair with MediaTek's MT7615 802.11ac SoC.

The chip includes a 1.35GHz rated, 64-bit dual-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor supporting SGMII/RGMII, PCIe, SATA and USB, and 4x4 802.11n FEM integration. Other interfaces include I2S, TDM, S/PDIF, analog amplifier and A/D converter for audio and GPIO, I2C, I2S, IR, PMIC I/F, PWM, RTC, SPI and UART "slow I/O" options.

MediaTek's announcement did not say when either the device or reference design would ship. Check the product page for more details.
