Merlin OpenVPN Server common name/username

New Around Here
Hi all,

I'm trying to get OpenVPN server to be able to talk back to one of the clients subnets; I can do this via the screenshot below; however this server is using certification as well as usernames/passwords.

Does anyone know if it's possible to detect a username rather than a common name as all clients will have the same common name?

Sounds like I have to chose between the safer certification or being able to discern between clients

Cheers,

Is this OpenVPN server running on the router (using Merlin firmware)? If not then this isn't the correct forum for that question.

Just checking, because you made an earlier post where you asked about an external VPN server and an Ubuntu client. And your screen shot doesn't look anything like mine (I guess it changed recently).

EDIT: OK got it. I was looking at the General settings and your screenshot is the Advanced settings.

Ya; I've got an Ubunutu server, which is my NAS. I also offload my external VPN client to this ( Private Internet Access - Client) as the router doesn't have the required horsepower to pull the full 100mbps I have down. Unfortunately the server is such old hardware, it can't easy virtualise something like pfsense without big performance loses so....

Anyhoo, this is a separate VPN server running on the router (Which is why I like the Asus/Merlin GUI) which is just for accessing NAS/LAN from elsewhere
