Modem Issue on DSL-AC68U

After power cut my router booted up with malfunctioning modem and of course no more internet
1. DSL light is now gone
2. the log states that it cannot load DSL firmware
3. Firmware info page the DSL firmware version is blank

I did manage to get it working for 4 weeks without DSL light on by re-loading firmware with Asus rescue and at first it didn't work even though the procedure finished with successful prompt. Somehow after sitting idle and powered i done few reboots and it just started to work.

Yesterday i rebooted it and it came back with same issue now, Modem is not working.

Sinc ei tried and tried again: reset it multiple times (with physical button and in menu) but it always comes back with same settings, i reloaded firmware multiple times, i done Asus rescue recovery (again), i also successfully loaded Merlin Stable: 384.11_2-gnuton2

Any suggestions or i have now ended up with just a wireless AP unit?
