The last two times they've pushed firmware updates, I've had issues. If you haven't rebooted for a while it asks you to do it before applying the update. I hit okay and the NAS just sits there, it never shuts down. I eventually have to kill it.

Any ideas?
 
The update scripts for QTS can be a bit, erm, complicated with kernel updates and the app changes..

I'd open a ticket with QNAP - just so they know...

It's not even starting the update. The restart never happens. I wonder if it's having trouble unmounting the drive.
 
Connect over SSH and start poking at its internals.

Might be if there are shares or files still open...

RMerlin's advice here is good - jump in and do a quick lsof, and check the logs for anything odd..
