NAS Unit Sees NTFS Formatted Drive As Very Small

Haselsmasher

New Around Here
I have a Coolmax CN-330 NAS device. It's a cool device - can be used over the network or as an external hard drive connected directly to USB. Overall it's slightly above "horrible". It generally works, but the config UI and tech support are attrocious.

I have a 1TB WD drive installed. When I format as FAT32 life is pretty grand - both over the network and attached directly my machine can see all available space. However when I format in NTFS, the full 1TB space is seen when connected over USB, but when I connect over the network it's seen as a 15 *MB* disk.

I assume not many are familiar with this particular product - I can hardly find anything on the web from people who are actually using it. But I'm hoping some kind soul can guess, based on the fact it's a Linux machine, what might be going on.

Thanks.

Jim

From the user manual...

COOLMAX CN-330 supports three types of file system: “EXT2”, “EXT3”, and “FAT32”.

Interesting. Thanks. I hadn't seen that. Kind of interesting - the configuration UI provides four file system format options: FAT32, NTFS, EXT2 and EXT3.

Thanks again.

Jim
