NAS w/built in wireless

josephnyc

New Around Here
New to this board.

Would like to find a very high quality and fast NAS in the 8TB range that has wireless.

I'm trying to setup a portable system with a handful of laptops connecting wirelessly to the NAS.

Sure would appreciate some suggestions.

Thank you,

Joseph

Some have WiFi, but a better way to go is to put a WiFi access point (AP) on the ethernet port of a lower cost NAS or a switch connected to the NAS. Of course, have WPA2 on.

Any wifi router can be configured as an AP. WAN port unused. Or you can buy a purpose-built AP.

I thought about just getting an AP, but I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible.

I want to ship it with a bunch of lawyers about 600 miles away.

Quite possibly wishful thinking, I know.

If there is no current networks at the site, you need a wireless router. Some NASes support a limited number of USB wireless adapters, but that is just to attach them to an existing wireless network.

How big is a "bunch" of lawyers (sounds like the start of a lawyer joke)?
Access could be very slow.
