NAS without web

How to connect qnap 451 to computer WITHOUT constant connection to internet. I am new to networks but want to use nas storage as backup system for 6TB of data from single PC.

It seems that to setup the nas storage it wants to connect to a network including internet at least to check for latest firmware and to get the product working. Is it possible to set up a simple ethernet network with switch or just use the existing consumer grade hub to allow connection to internet for setup then disconnect this and just allow the pc to connect to web and not let the nas storage connect to web.

I appreciate this is perhaps not the normal requirement which may be the opposite of what i am asking for. The reason for wanting nas is just as a large backup store and avoiding direct connection to web would increase security somewhat, simply to avoid infection by viruses or other malware which would then have to travel via the pc with its antivirus and firewall.

In the NAS admin software, disable the services that are meant to use the Internet.

On the router, turn of uPnP, then disable any port-forwarding table entries that the NAS may have automatically created.
