Need a new phone modem.

Hello, as my name says I'm a noob. Sorry for such basic questions. I have a 6 year old modem and router. I know I know this is old tech. Lol. I've decided to buy new of both. I think I've decided on the following router:

NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router (R7000)

But I need a good telephony modem as well to update my entire system. I'm having a hard time with this one. My current provider and speed are as follows:
WindStream home service (only service available)
3mbps speed (can be upped to 4mbps)

As a starter - I would suggest reaching out to Windsteam directly and see what they recommend as they're on the hook to provide services to you, the subscriber - they'll know what works best with their systems...

Thanks for the reply. All they will suggest is there all in one modem and router for $10 a month. I tried asking them 1st. They weren't much help unfortunately.

Most DSL modems today include some sort of router. You should be able to put it in bridge mode so that it acts as a modem only.

If your modem is working fine, there is no need to replace it unless it is required to access higher speed service.

The NETGEAR R7000 is still a fine wireless router today.
