I just upgraded my WRT54G to a DIR655. I have found this free traffic monitoring tool from - http://www.hootech.com/NetMeter/ - to be much more powerful than the NetMeter from metal-machine.de.
The HooTech Net Meter has many more features and the performance charts seem to agree much more with what you see on this site's wireless performance charts.
HooTech also has a $20 version, but i dont know what the diff is between that and the free version.
If anyone has found an even better tool, let me know.
