NETGEAR just announced a Tri-band Nighthawk-branded mesh system.

The Nighthawk MK83 Tri-band Mesh WiFi 6 System is essentially its MK63 Dual-band Nighthawk mesh system with a second 5 GHz high-band, 4 stream radio that's dedicated to wireless backhaul. The client-facing radios are two stream 2.4 and 5 GHz and all radios are Wi-Fi 6.

At $499 MSRP, the MK83 provides another NETGEAR alternative for buyers seeking a three-node tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh system. NETGEAR's top-of-line RBK853 AX6000 Orbi Wi-Fi 6 system will currently run you about $980 on Amazon, but all its radios are four stream. A more similar alternative would be the RBK753 AX4200 Orbi Wi-Fi 6, matching the MK83 at $498. It has essentially the same two-stream front-haul and four-stream backhaul design as the MK83. Aside from the Orbi and Nighthawk branding, I'll leave it to NETGEAR to try to differentiate the products.

The MK83 will be in stores shortly. I think it's safe to assume that single and two-unit SKUs will follow at some point.
