The soon to be released NETGEAR WAC740 is an AC2600 class MU-MIMO 4x4 AP that will have maximum wireless link rates of 600 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 1.7 Gbps at 5 GHz.

With the WAC740, SMB customers can opt for either using a bonded connection to the access point’s two Gigabit ports, or use its built-in single 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port to connect the AP to the network. This is the first appearance we've seen of a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port.

The NETGEAR WAC740 also offers the flexibility to use either the four internal antennas or four installable external antennas that fit in the access point’s SMA antenna connectors.

Aside from using a power adapter, the WAC740 can also be powered by PoE+, giving customers better placement options by not having to be tethered to a power cord when placing their access point in its final location.

The NETGEAR WAC740 will be generally available later this month with an MSRP of $929.

To be honest I have been using 2.5gbe ports with both Meraki and Aruba for almost a year now . . . and the price difference isn't that far off from Netgear's.
This begs the question, if you had a choice between cisco/aruba or netgear for essentially the same $ why would you go netgear?
