New Router Installed: WiFi Working but no LAN

Hi. Based on the good feedback here, I got an Asus RT-AC86U. I took out my old router and connected the new router to my ATT GigaFiber modem. It asked me to create a new SSID and set up password for the web interface. I also updated the firmware.

After all of this, I noted that I am able to get on the internet with all my WiFi devices none of my ethernet connected devices.

What could be the most common cause of this?

Again, aside from creating a new SSID and updating the firmware, I have not changed any of the default configuration.

I am super-new to networking and routers so when you recommend a setting change, I would appreciate it if you could also tell me where to go in router's web interface to make that change.

Thanks!

The first thing to try is power down your modem, router and every device that connects by Ethernet to your router.

Power back up your modem. When it is back on line and showing connectivity to the WWW power up your router. when the router shows it has connectivity to the WWW power on the devices that connect by using Ethernet.

If they don't connect then try using a NEW Ethernet cable to connect each device directly to your router (no cables in the wall) and see if that fixes the problem.

If this doesn't work then somehow you or someone else could have assigned static IPs to the devices that connect to your router and they are in a different subnet than your router is using. The other possibility is that you router's Ethernets ports are bad. Unlikely that all four are dead put nothing is impossible.

The newer ATT stuff they deliver with GigaFiber is actually not that bad - they've improved the wireless for both bands - much better than the older stuff they used to offer with UVerse and ATT DSL services.

You'll be pressed to find something that's faster...

That being said, depending on the model of the GW, you might still have DMZ+, and that's the magic you're looking for, if you want to use a 3rd party Router/AP on the ATT broadband connection.
