New RT-AC68P Firmware Recommendation Question...

I just received my new RT-AC68P and am wondering if I should stick with the regular ASUS firmware or move to one of the forks such as Merlin?

I'm not averse to going with something other than ASUS', but am wondering what benefit(s) there currently are going with the others?
