Next generation router recommendation

I'm having an opportunity to replace my ac68u and 1750. A friend in international trip is going to be able to bring one for me from USA. The replacement is a must because they both are broken/barely working. Is the next gen ax88u pro the favorite as I've seen on other posts? Would be awesome to have a fixed topic listing merlin's favorites. And by looking at it, people could compare their budget.

Where are you located ? If your not in the USA then a router from USA will not comply with your region. This may affect usable channels power restrictions and other things. Asus routers sold in the USA are not region changeable and are locked here. Just something to consider.
