Noob question, 2.4g less link speed than 5g

Hello,

This is what I think I am seeing, using insider and trying to get my router to use more than 1 channel in the 2.4g band.

In the 5g frequency, everyone else in the neighborhood on this frequency is using N and using 2 channels, so my router is happy to use 2 channels and I get up to 405 link rate

In the 2.4g, there is at least 1 router in my neighborhood using 1 channel, which forces everyone else to be 1 channel, which forces my top link rate to 216.

Is this an accurate assessment of what is going on?

If the router is properly obeying 2.4 GHz 40 MHz coexistence rules, it is supposed to fall back (or stay) in 20 MHz mode, which would yield a 216 Mbps maximum link rate for an N450 class adapter.
