noob question about AC66U

Probably applies to all the ASUS AC series but...

I have always used local (LAN) IP or DNS registration to access my routers. Usually forced into SSL so as an example https://1.2.3.4 or https://edrouter.local, but this AC66U does not like that at all.

When it first booted or after a factory reconfig I saw something like "router.asus.com" (or very similar) as the URL when administering the box via browser. But after a short period that seems to fail and I can no longer get into the device, which I why I did one factory reset already.

So, all I can guess is that I've made some setting that prohibits this from working. Can anyone tell me about a workaround? I know the IP, and the device seems to be working just fine, but I can no longer access the thing via browser.

Make sure you use the router's IP for DNS resolution on your clients.
