I am having a problem downloading the file for the save/restore utility for the Asus/Merlin routers. Something is happening and I have no clue what it is.

I go to the site with the downloads. Select r21 to download. Go through the download. The process completes, but the file is not in the directory I specified. I finally found it in a download temp directory in my D drive. Multiple times with a name that is a series of characters and make no sense to me. No idea what that is. A file example is Wz2JRAqr.zip.part. I have no idea what that is. Win zip won't deal with it, nor winrar.

I downloaded and earlier version a while back an it showed up as a ZIP file with the right name in the directory I specified.

I am clueless. Can someone please explain this.

If you are using Firefox or Chrome (they both use a google db), somehow it decided that all .zip downloads from live.com are 'potentially dangerous' and should be blocked.

You can either.....
Use IE to download
or
click the download arrow in the upper right, then right click the file and select unblock
or
I just put a copy there with the extension .zip.ff That will download, then you can rename it to a .zip
