OpenVPN client getting 2 IP addresses on local LAN

Hi,

I have an Asus RT-N66U running Merlin 380.57 firmware. I have an OpenVPN server configured which until yesterday only accepted one client, which is a virtual Ubuntu server I rent. Since yesterday I have added another client to the VPN servers configuration, this new client is a remote raspberry pi running Raspian jessie with latest openvpn version installed.

This openvpn server is configured to only allow configured clients to connect, for both clients I have a ccd file which pushes their designated fixed IP address, so that the clients get a fixed IP in my local LAN.

My local LAN is 192.168.2.0/24
DHCP range for all clients is .52 - .100
The ubuntu server is configured to use IP 192.168.2.161 when it connects via VPN.
The Raspberry PI is configured to use IP 192.168.2.162 when it connects.

This all works fine, on first glance: both clients can ping over their VPN devices on my local LAN, and vice-versa.

However I noticed something strange: Only the raspberry pi client, not the Ubuntu server, seems to be getting a 2nd IP address in my local LAN, which seems to be random, but something in the DHCP range.

While everything seems to be working, I don't like this, if only for the fact that it consuming an unnecessary IP in my DHCP pool.

Any ides as to why the raspberry is doing this, and the ubuntu server does not get an extra IP?
