I love to tinker and wanted to put a spare Raspberry Pi Model 3+ that I have spare to good use. I decided to set up PiHole

All went well and the PiHole appears to be doing its job nicely.

As a test, I disconnected the PiHole from my network and as expected, my systems could no longer access web pages as their URL's were not being resolved by the PiHole

One thing that I cannot explain is that even with the PiHole disconnected, my Amazon Echo Dot's all still work and give answers to questions asked etc.

Why would that be?

Thanks for reading

Maybe they use hard coded IP addresses so they cannot be spoofed. I know I have blocked all DNS except for 1 I wanted to use and they still worked.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I guess in the absence of any other explanation that fits.
