Why are you asking this question, i.e., what is the problem?

If you are asking whether intermittent high ping times are typical of wireless connections, the answer is yes.

Looks like fine WiFi to LAN latencies to me. Those occasional 50mSec + numbers may be due to competition for airtime among your neighbors (try a different channel 1, 6 or 11), or may be retransmissions due to weak signals. But WiFi isn't wired. Can't be.

While I took these shots, there were 4 network in the vicinity. Channel was set to auto. As thiggins said this shouldn't be a be cause of concern. Although I will try with manually selecting the channel.

I'm not familiar with VistaStumbler. You'll have to read the documentation.
Use Channels 1, 6 or 11. Using the other channels doesn't help performance.

Again, what problem are you trying to solve?

Set the channel 1, as your advice. The wireless really vary alot throughout the day. It even drops to 1Mbps at times although my Internet connection is 4Mbps links. I was trying if changing these setting have any effect on it.

There are some other networks also in range. As shown in the 2.4Ghz channel page. When I changed the channel, it did improve the signal a little bit (first circle). Second circle is when I disconnected the wireless.

Also any antenna suggestion are also welcome. Currently it has a "5dBi Detachable Omni Directional" fixed antenna.
