I just tried creating a PPTP server on my 3200. Not for security as such, but as a workaround for a failing 'three' network connection on a Huawai router. The three network is struggling, but a VPN seems to workaround the issues with connections.

However after setting up such a connection I see
Mar 15 19:11:23 pptp[769]: pppd 2.4.7 started by nigel, uid 0
Mar 15 19:11:23 pptp[769]: Connect: pptp0 <--> pptp (92.40.168.108)
Mar 15 19:11:53 pptp[769]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Mar 15 19:11:53 pptp[769]: Connection terminated.
Mar 15 19:11:53 pptp[769]: Modem hangup
Mar 15 19:11:54 pptpd[765]: CTRL: EOF or bad error reading ctrl packet length.
Mar 15 19:11:54 pptpd[765]: CTRL: couldn't read packet header (exit)
Mar 15 19:11:54 pptpd[765]: CTRL: Fatal error reading control message in disconnect sequence
Mar 15 19:11:54 kernel: Interface pptp0 doesn't exist

In the asus log. Unsure why yet. I initially went with defaults.
Any ideas? I'm more familar with openVPN than this protocol

By switching off broadcast support on the pptp server config I managed to get rid of the config-requests timeout. However it looks as if perhaps the pptp kernel extension isn't loading since I still get:

Mar 16 08:36:51 pptp[12641]: Connection terminated.
Mar 16 08:36:51 kernel: Interface pptp0 doesn't exist
Mar 16 08:36:51 pptp[12641]: Modem hangup
Mar 16 08:36:55 pptp[12664]: pppd 2.4.7 started by nigel, uid 0
Mar 16 08:36:55 pptp[12664]: Connect: pptp0 <--> pptp (188.31.227.47)
