Primary and Secondary dns in Asus DNSFilter custom field

Michael Wayne

New Around Here
Hi all. I haven't been able to find a concrete answer to this using Google, etc. In Asuswrt-Merlin it is awesome that you can specify different DNS depending on the device. It has three options for custom DNS, but providing only one line for each. Does this means only one DNS ip can be entered in each field, or can we enter more than one in each and if so, what would be the format?. All dns providers offer a primary and secondary ip so I find weird there would be only option for one entry. Thanks in advanced.

You can only enter one IP address in each field.

In a normal setup the client can have a list of different DNS servers from which it can choose which one it wants to use. The whole raison d'être of the DNS Filter is to redirect the client's DNS requests to one specific DNS server and ignore any choices the client has made.

Thanks!

I wanted multiple DNS per device, including falling back to the default DNS entries, and I ended up using dnsmasq.conf to get it done.
