Hello,

I've tried to downgrade the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware actually installed on my ASUS RT-AC68U (hardware version V3 from year 2020) from the version 386.3_2 to version 384.19_0 and got the following pop-up:

Is this an ASUS protection preventing from the installation of Merlin firmware on its recent devices?
Or why is this message coming?

With best regards,
Robert

Why would you do that?

Because in the version 384.19_0 on the VPN client tab in the Crypto Settings there are fields "Cipher Negotiation" and "Legacy/fallback cipher", which are missing in the newer version.

FYI. You can always add back directives if you need them via the custom config field. You don't necessarily have to downgrade. Not unless the version you're currently using has actually deprecated those directives.

IOW, don't be a slave to the GUI. Sometimes you have to use the custom config field to "fine tune" the configuration to your liking.
