New Around Here
Hello

I just brought a Asus RT-AC66U_B1 and I am having problems installing the Merlin Firmware.

Im a total noob, but have read sevel post online about it and other people have got it to work.

I followed this: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/will-merlin-run-on-this-asus-rt-ac66u-b1.42654/

At the moment I have installed the Asus RT-AC68U firmware (RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_384_20648-g21e3702.trx)

But having problems uploade to the merlin firmware.

Is it possible to upload the Merlin firmware to my RT-AC66U_B1, if yes. How?

Thanks in advance.

Asus enforced new validation requirements with 3.0.0.4.384_20648. At this time, you can only flash 384.5 (currently only available as alpha builds).

You might be able to flash 384.4_2 if you use the Asus Firmware Recovery tool, but I haven't tested it.

Thanks RMerlin.

I somehow got Merlin firmware on my router.

I followed this:

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac66u-b1-unable-to-flash-firmware-error.45793/

and did this:

I flashed the SECOND to most recent BIOS once I noticed the newest had been released only days ago and once that finished I was able to flash Merlin with no problems! Problem solved, hopefully this helps some other noob who runs into this minor error xD

Then downloaded the last alpha build and uploaded it to my router.
