Hi everyone
Having a hell of a time sharing a folder publicly. Hoping to get some help!
Normally I would do via FTP, but in this case I need to publicly share a folder via SMB in Windows 10.
What I've done so far:
- Shared folder
- Granted permission to read/write/access to my local administrator account
- Opened Public File and Printer Sharing in Firewall (even turned Firewall off completely, makes no difference)
- Turned off password required to share files in Advanced Sharing Settings
- No router firewall or 3rd party software Firewall. Only Windows Firewall.
I then try to connect the SMB from a remote PC using the following format:
\\IP\Computer Name\Folder Name
I'm then prompted to enter a Username and Password. I've tried the following combinations but nothing is accepted:
- Username and Password of the account I granted access to
- Guest and no Password
- Left the username and password blank
None of the above work.
Any help to would be great – hoping it's something simple that I've forgotten!
