Just wanted to add some things to what's missing on the L vs the Pro models - SATA III (6gbps) is only on the Pro, the L is only SATA II (3gbps), the L does not have Apple Time Machine support, and there are a smattering of things missing from the software side.
If it doesn't matter to you, then you're good to go. I wanted SATA III and Time Machine support, so I got the 8-bay TS-869-PRO and not the L.
