New Around Here
I just got a R7000 and have probably a simple QoS question.
do I have to enable QoS on both my DSL Modem and the router?
Right now I have it just on the router and it seems to work great.

yeah I've heard conflicting experiences regarding double QoS in general
if it works fine I'm guessing just leave it as is...I'm sure someone more knowledagble will chime in

If the R7000 is being used as a router, and its WAN port is used, then the DSL modem/router needs to be put in the bridge mode so its router is disabled. That done, the bridge is a layer 2 device and has no QoS role.

And also keep in mind that local Quality of Service settings only apply to your LAN/WLAN - once it hit the WAN side, most likely you'll be best effort out to the internet at large.

I can not seem to find a pass though option.
Although I am still trying to figure out what the heck this setting does.
I can not really find any explanation of it.

In some cases, changing to bridge mode requires the ISP to do so via their management system.

Most people just google the make and model of their modem and add the words "bridge mode" to the search.

If you have an actiontec GT724WG, then google "Actiontec GT724WG bridge mode".

Most DSL modems can be put in to bridge mode by the user. Some DSL modems simply don't support bridge mode at all or will only do half bridge.

Cable modems often require the change to be made by the ISP.

You'll probably find how to put your DSL modem/router in to bridge mode via google search.
