Solved Question about dig & .digrc

Does dig support using a .digrc and where should it be ?

I have tried creating a .digrc in my $HOME/ but dig crashes !!!

Is dig part of your firmware (my router doesn't have the 3006 firmware) or are you using the Entware version (in which case it's an Entware question)?

I just typed 'dig' as an option within unbound_manager and it ran !!!

Yep ... it is in the entware/bin directory.

Just contains:

-4

It is to force dig to use IPv4 as I get nonsense lines with every query as it trys to use IPv6 first !!!

Seems to work for me.

Try running dig from the command line instead of "within unbound_manager".

If it still fails I suggest you remove the bind-dig package and reinstall it.

T did run it from the command line and got the crash.
I will reinstall bind-dig.

Reinstalled & still crashes.
Stupid question the .digrc files should just contain "-4" as in 'echo "-4" > .digrc' ???
That is what I did.

Solved ... I was being dumb !!!
Never play late at night when you should be asleep !!!
It was not picking up my local dns address properly.
Unbound_Manager was 'nicely' tacking it onto the command line for me.

Thanks for the help ... it got my brain working eventually

Solution:
echo "@127.0.0.1 -p <portnumber> -4" > .digrc

Where <portnumber> == 53 or whatever you may have changed it to.
dig now works !!!
