Question about wireless phone jack

Hello,

I have a phone base which is connected to a modem (the modem came from the phone & internet company). The problem is that the phone base is in a room upstairs were the modem is and the extra handset is in the kitchen so whenever we got a voice mail, we have to go to the room upstairs to listen to it. I am thinking of getting one of those wireless phone jacks that comes in a pair, connecting one device to the modem and plugging it in the power outlet and plugging the second device in the kitchen's outlet and connecting it to the phone base (the one with the answer machine). What do you think guys, does this is setting work?

Any other ideas or advices would be appreciated.

If you have the same phone line on existing jacks in other places in the home, you can just plug the modem to a jack and plug the phone into any jack on the same line around the house. If your internet is cable/fiber, and you have no nearby phone jacks, you may have to try what you're thinkin of doing. If DSL, you will have to have a dedicated line to the modem, then disconnect the second line that all the jacks in the house connect to from the service input. If you have cable/fiber and a phone jack nearby, you can just disconnect the line connected to that jack from the service input. Now you can just plug any phone into any jack on that same line and have it work.
