R7800 problem with genie settings/internet

haszek

New Around Here
I bought this router hoping to replace my asus AC56U but currently I've been having problems with it that maybe someone could help me with:/

First is I can't change any settings. I log in to my router through browser (firefox, edge, chrome) and I can see left menu, top menu (basic, advance) but website only says "please wait a moment..." forever. So I can't change anything. Never had netgear router, is this something that happens with their genie configuration?
Uninstalled my total bitdefender, switched off addons in browser, rebooted router, restored to factory settings, nothing. Still can't change anything. My PC is connected with cable to the router, tried also on ipad using wifi but also nothing. Tried to search online but not sure at this point what to do. I did manage to install latest firmware but that didn't help either.

The other issue is (I have never had it before with asus router) that couple of times already (having it only for one day...) my internet suddenly disappears on my PC (ethernet cable, windows 10). At the same time internet through wifi is working on iphone, ipad, it's even working on my av receiver also connected with cable. The only thing that helps is to type in to cmd "netsh int ipv4 install". Not sure why this suddenly happens if there were no issues before, with any of my previous routers

Can anyone please advise what else could be done to make it work properly?

Do you have any add blockers on? Also have you tried a different LAN port. Have you tried resetting the router via the hard reset on the back rather than rebooting? The issues you are having are not something I have experienced with that Router.

I switched off add blockers. I tried different ports, nothing:/ Yes I did reset the router on the back, went through initial setup but still not possible to change any settings.

update1
Regarding my first issue, at least I discovered what is causing it...USB 3.0 drive connected to one of the router's ports. As soon as I disconnect it setting page works fine, connect it back again and the page freezes. Weird because while it's connected it's working fine, I can copy in and out (speeds approx 35MB/s write and 55MB/s read)

What problems are you having with the RT-AC56U? Can you link to your thread if you've posted one for it, ty.

OK bought new drive Seagate portable backup slim 2TB and R7800 is working fine now. I have all the settings etc. Transfers similar to what I posted above. Maybe my second issue was also related somehow to my USB drive? not sure. It seems everything is ok.

I didn't really have any problems with it rather just "limitations" of the hardware. Wifi range wasn't that great (had better on old linksys), USB 3.0 sometimes saw my hard drive sometimes didn't so had to work on USB2.0 socket as it was more reliable (maybe again my USB drive's fault), transfers therefore were not that great etc. Wanted to get something with latest technologies MIMO, better range, better processor to have better USB speeds etc

See R7800 access control issue in this forum. I had similar issues with my network disappearing. Windows 10 got so bad from the router that I returned it. I plugged back in my Asus AC66R and everything went back to normal.
