Dear all,

would any of the forum experts please confirm whether an R9000 would provide better performance than an R7800 by running a VPN ?

If so, is it because of the 4-core CPU vs a 2-core CPU or it's something else ?

Tia.

R9000 has true Cortex-A15 CPU (i.e armv7a + neon). R7800 has "a-la" Cortex-A15 IPQ8065 CPU (the same armv7a + neon). If your primary goal is OpenVPN consider to use other router with ARMv8. ARMv8 supports acceleration of AES instructions. ARMv7-a does not. ARMv8 will be much faster.

For instance: ASUS RT-AC86U. With RMerlin's firmware.

Voxel.
