Hi all,
I have an R8500 set to wireless bridge, a recent change from it being used as my gateway router where it was functioning fine. It's running firmware V1.0.2.80_1.0.71. This firmware was only in use for a short while before changing it to a wireless bridge.
I have a problem where, after a short while, the router stops farwarding packets from one or more switch ports.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern I can see yet.
As far as what a "short while" is I had the problem twice yesterday.
The symptoms are not always the same so I'll describe those that I'm clear on.
Mostly I can ping the router from a bad port, I can also often communicate to other devices directly connected to the R8500 switch, but can't ping the device the bridge is associated with, aka. the gateway router.
That's why I say, the router switch ports stop forwarding packets.
Unplugging the ethernet cable a while and plugging it back in makes no difference.
Plugging the ethernet cable into another port will resolve the problem as long as the new port has not itself already stopped forwarding packets (obvious but needs to be said).
A reset to factory defaults resolves the problem for a short while until it happens all over again.
I have just now reflashed the firmware version above and will see if that makes any difference, if not I will flash the previous version.
Does anyone have any further suggestions?
Ian
