RAM: WHS vs NAS question

branon

Occasional Visitor
While looking at the various NAS devices and WHS devices that are reviewed here, I noticed that NAS devices tend to have lower memory (on average at least 512mb less ). Is there a reason for this? Is WHS memory hungry?
Just an amateur question.
Thanks.

yes but at the same time the NAS makers do skimp on memory on their consumer devices as a way of holding separate their "business" devices, which are more or less built on same platforms. Those ones DO have more memory more or less same as a WHS

So that way they squeeze more money out of customers that are
a) businesses
b) power users who will do more with the device and are therefore in theory more willing to trade up
