Ready NAS Duo V2 Upgrade

mgee16

New Around Here
I have a Netgear ReadyNas Duo V2 with 2X1TB drives installed.
These are almost full and I was thinking about going up to a Western Digital red 2TB X 2 setup.

How can I get my data from my current setup to my new 2TB X 2 setup?

I tried several backup programs but they don't seem to work with RAID NAS drives.

I am new to this so any help appreciated.

Doesn't Netgear give you a backup utility to backup to an external USB2/3 or eSATA drive? Synology and QNAP do. That backup can be in block image form or even to a drive in linux file system form, or even NTFS form. Or image to Amazon S3 if you have the ISP speed. But if your 1TB is RAID1, it should be trivial to do an external backup preserving file attributes. Or... if in RAID mode, use the Netgear utility, if it's there, to replace one drive with a larger, rebuild, then replace the other smaller drive. If the two drives are separate volumes, it's easier yet.
If none of these, Netgear was a bad choice.
