Reconsidering my NAS pick!

I was set on getting the DS214play,but since I have read that the transcoding is basically useless,I am thinking that it may not be such a good buy. So,I am thinking that I may be better off getting a different model. Maybe you guys can suggest a solution after I tell you what I will be using it for and what I have that could do the transcoding itself.

Used For
-----------
(1) Windows backups
(2) Time machine backups
(3) Music,picture and video storage
(4) Cloud storage
(5) Watch content from NAS on Android,Mac and Windows when on vacation (Majority of content would be watched on home TV from NAS)

I may be asking for more than the NAS can do,but I don't know until I ask.

Here's what I could use for transcoding
------------------------------------------
(1) I have a mini-itx setup( dual-core Atom D2550 processor with Nvidia GT610 graphics) that I run XBMC on,1080p content and DTS run without any issues from local content.
(2) WDTV Live Plus
(3)I also have a Google Chromecast if it would help out.

Let me know guys what you think.I don't want to get more than I need,or find out I didn't get enough. Thanks
