I've deleted thousands of pics and videos (moved them to my computer actually).
I only have about 200 pics on the phone now.
Cleared cache for camera, gallery, media storage apps. Deleted .thumbnails-nnnn file in the .thumbnails folder. Rebooted phone. And that large thumbnail file in the folder got created again at 2.5GB, which was what it was before the mass deletion!
On Android 8, Samsung Galaxy S7.
Update:
Now deleted everything under the .thumbnails folder and the folder itself, and created a file called .thumbnails (so that the system can't create a folder of the same name and try to populate it with that large file)
My gallery might be slower, but I'll see how it goes.
