Remote Management

1ST Question-
I have a Linkysys BEFRS81 behind a DSL modem that is set up as a transparent bridge. I have PPPoE (Although my phone compay says it shoule be PPPoA, but router doesnt support PPPoA) set up and have internet connectivity behind my router. The problem is i cant access remote management? Remote management is enabled on port 8080, but i cant seem to hit it? I would assume authentication isnt this issue since i have internet connectivity, but that is my only problem i see is the PPPoA vs PPPoE? Any help would be appreciated.

2ND Question-
I have a Linksys WAP 4400N connected to a Lan port on my router. The access point is up and configured and i get connection/DHCP (Via router)/and internet no problem. Can i remote into this access point? How?

thanks for any help you may offer.

Erik

It could be that the DSL modem's bridging isn't as "transparent" as you might think.
What is the WAN address of the BEFSR81? It needs to be a public IP. If it isn't, you need to look for port forwarding or DMZ controls on the DSL modem.

To access the WAP4400N, you need to set the remote access management port to something different than 8080 or 80 (try 8081) and forward a port to its IP address in the BEFSR81.

The WAN address is a publicly routable address, 64.xxx.xxx.xxx range. As soon as i set the DSL modem in RFC1483 (Transparent Bridge) and reboot it, it is gone from a management standpoing really. It starts to simply pass traffic, and i cant even get back into to manage. It requires a reset to actually be able to log back into it.

I will try the port forwarding and update.

Thanks for the reply.

Erik
