Replacing FVS318 (v3)

I need to replace the firewall I have at home (Netgear FVS318). Its been flaky lately, and I'd benefit from LAN gigabit (I have 3 wired computers, a wii, 1 NAS, and two wireless access points suppoting macs and ipods, Internet is Comcast at 8mb).

I'm not sure if I really need a firewall or if I can just use a router. I need at least 5 LAN ports, an djust one WAN (10/100) port. No need for wireless in the utility room where the network is.

Any advice as to router vs. firewall (I do not have any VPN requirements). I also would appreciate hardware suggestions (I tried the charts, but they all seem to be wireless). Thanks in advance.

You can use any router since you don't need VPN.

Most of the consumer routers today are wireless. But there are plenty under $50. Just check the "No WLAN" filter on the Router Charts to see wired-only routers
and use the price filter.
