I am using Voxel firmware on my R7800 and have a bunch of firewall rules & some other changes I have made to the files. The only problem is that these modifications disappear on upgrading the firmware.

Is there any way I can get a script to run, when plugging in a USB stick? I have one made with the SSH keys. Can I add a script on that USB, which then auto execs and makes the modifications that I need.

Yes, on the USB, create:
/autorun/scripts/post-mount.sh
That’s the best way to do it.
I am using a lot of custom files, settings and scripts, and automated check and install this way.

I did many upgrades without even having to think about anything.

The key is to pay attention to the script you add in post-mount (ideally another script you call from post-mount.sh to keep good track on what you are doing). Then you just copy your files from USB to root or substitute some info in files after doing checks, etc...
