Route wireless clients to another router?

mustavas

New Around Here
Hi All,
I am running a DSL-AC68U for my modem and Wifi.
All the devices in my house connect through this device out to the internet, including an ESX server.

I wish to run a virtual router on my server (e.g pfsense, VYos or other) that will have firewall rules, VPN, etc setup on it.

Am I able to somehow route my wifi devices (which get an IP from the DSL-AC68U) through the second router I set up?

I have tried static routes without much success but i could be doing it wrong.

Thanks for any advice

Trying to use the DSL-AC68U as your DSL modem and WiFI AP? Not really an easy task...if even possible.

For this to work in a more manageable manner, you will need another Access Point to sit behind the new FW. There may be ways to VLAN out the existing Asus...I am just not that up to speed on what you can and can't do with VLANs on those. You would probably be better served using the Asus as a dedicated DSL modem, then handing off to your new FW, which then has behind it all of your clients and your AP.
