Router mode or WAP

Hi I have an annex to existing house. House has bt smart hub. I intend to connect netgear wac124 to provide Ethernet & Wi-Fi to annex. Should I set it up as a WAP or as a router? It defaults to router but I’m unsure if this will cause problems.

does having two routers connected together cause connectivity issues?

Use it as WAP. You want to extend the coverage only. No routing is needed there. All your devices will be on the same network.
