RT-AC5300 Airplay doesn't work across bands in Tri-Band mode

New Around Here
I have a Asus RT-AC5300 router for my small business. The internet portion works 100% of the time with no issues. BUT, we often demo mobile apps by casting them from an iPhone/iPad to a computer/TV with an Airplay server.

The problem is that if the Airplay server device and iPhone/iPad happen to get on the same band (5G-1 for example), it works without issue. If the server device and iPhone/iPad get on different bands (5G-1, 5G-2), it does NOT work.

My old Netgear could route between the bands without any issue, but I wanted this router for the smart connect feature. Is there a setting I can mess around with to make sure works fine?

I turned Tri-Band off and gave each band its own SSID and airplay worked across the bands flawlessly. Turned Smart Connect back on, and the same issue happens. Is there a setting on the Smart Connect rules I need to tweak?

I have the same problem with my ASUS RT-AC3200. Would love to find a solution that works with Smart Connect. I emailed Asus support, but have heard nothing back so far. I did get it to work once...how I don't recall (reboot the router and it works for a few minutes maybe?)...anyway it was temporary.
