RT-AC5300 WOL issue

I am trying to set up home bridge using a raspberry pi and the first thing i am doing is having it control my LG C8 tv. Everything is working except turning on the tv. I have narrowed it down to something with the router and WOL. If i enter the mac address of the tv into the WOL page on the router the tv turns on right away. If i use any WOL program on a computer on the network the tv might turn on a couple minutes later or it does not turn on at all. As i sit here and write this the tv just turned on and i have not sent a WOL command for 5 minutes.

What works. Sending a WOL command to the mac address using the network tools - wake on lan page. It turns on right away.

What takes a long time for it to register if it registers at all, and has been tested.
Sending a WOL command to the mac address using the following programs/apps
Sending Wake command from raspberry pi connected to same lan hard wired.
Sending Wake command using solar winds wake on lan program on PC connected to same lan hard wired.
Sending wake command using WOL app on iPhone connected to same lan wifi.
Sending wake commend using wake on lan app on iPhone connected to same lan wifi.


The router is either blocking or not routing the command unless you use its own WOL page.

Has anyone else had this issue and what have you done to fix it

I switched the tv over to wired ethernet from wifi and it now works without an issue.

Taking control of your network and strong-arming it to your will.

Sometimes 'elegant' has to move over for more straightforward methods.
