It seems I'm going too in the same trouble.
Asus RT-AC66U with latest available Merlin firmware, with Entware-NG on USB stick.
2.4 LED on Asus router is on, icon on GUI is on, but 2.4 it's not broadcasting at all, so doesn't appear to a Wi-Fi scan.
It happens one/two times a week, and the only way I've found to re-enable radio on 2.4 GHz band is to disable/enable wireless on this band.
Can I use cron to do this automatically every night, only for 2.4?
I suppose cmd service restart_wireless works for all wireless interfaces.
