RT-AC66U - no option for B/G/N?

there is only legacy, auto, and n only, that makes no sense, auto will not do N and legacy. it will only do b/g rates. plz add a B/G/N option to the firmware merlin

im having compatibility issues on N only and there is not enough bandwidth to go around on the G band.

every time i set to auto i get G link rates, never seen N once, i will try later tonight when people are not using the network to confirm, but i would assume its auto at choosing legacy b/g or N, and it seems to be thinking it needs to go to b/g, if someone could post links of there devices syncing at N and G speeds on auto that would be good thx.

Make sure you use WPA2 and AES. Those are required for 802.11n.

From my experience the TX/RX speeds listed in the wireless log aren't very descriptive.

For example right now I have my 2.4Ghz sent to 'n-only' , 20Mhz and it looks like this;

In theory all of these are n so they should be reporting '75' (or 150 if you're using 40Mhz), but I think this is reporting the real TX rate from the client (same as the RSSI) rather than the theoretical limits.

You can't use TKIP .. I assume you're running that if you always get "g"

also, the AP automatically downgrades to be compatible with the lowest client.. if someone connects from a "g" device.. ie old nokia 5800 phone, the AP will switch from "n" to "g" automatically..

But, I can guarantee you, when I have auto and logon only with "n" clients..that support 300Mbps.. some n clients only go up to 150Mbps..I'll get the 300Mbps..

In reality that means I'm running effectively between 100-130Mbps in my conditions..
Half of the 300Mbps you automatically loose because the Mbps is always the addition of "send & recieve" so in real field deployment you max effectively to half of the written Mbps..
Take into account walls, moisture, distance, neighbors, etc..

ok im able to get it to work on N for 40 and 20 mhz on the auto mode, but the 40MHz is horrible and i think i set it to auto before and it went to the 40, made me feel like it was = to or worse then the legacy, did some more testing on auto mode with 20MHz bandwidth and it seems to be workin pretty good, other then updating firmware, i think i can finaly let this router sit for months without changing settings. thanks guys!
